Ortigas city is a prime commercial district in the PhilippinesOrtigas is a commercial center at the heart of Metro Manila and rivals Makati City and the Fort Bonifacio Global City in terms of its tall buildings, large shopping malls, five-star hotels, fine dining and tourism and leisure destinations. Located on the boundaries of Mandaluyong City, Pasig City and Quezon City, the Ortigas complex is on an expansion mode, with new developments across Ortigas towards the Corinthian Gardens and across the Shaw Boulevard towards Pioneer Street, where JG summit Holdings and Globe Telecom have erected new condominium buildings, hotels and office buildings.

Ortigas serves as the headquarters of the Asian Development Bank, San Miguel Corp., power distributor Manila Electric Co. or Meralco, Jollibee Foods Corp., Banco de Oro Unibank which is the country's largest bank, Unionbank, the Philippine Stock Exchange center and major call centers and business process outsourcing or BPO companies.  It is also home to the Medical City, one of the finest hospitals in Asia, and the University of Asia and the Pacific, which is a university of choice for rich Filipino students. Other schoos in Ortigas are Enderun Colleges, Saint Pedro Poveda College and Lourdes School of Mandaluyong.   Government offices in Ortigas include the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

For dining, Ortigas also has the finest restaurants in the country, located at the large shopping malls, and hotels.  There are also the Metrowalk commercial complex, El Pueblo and St. Francis Square.
