San Miguel Corp. plans to present a proposal to the government soon for a new US$10 billion airport in Luzon.
San Miguel Corp. and Philippine Airlines President Ramon Ang said the company is set to present its plan for an alternative international airport in Manila in May. San Miguel, which owns a portion of flag carrier Philippine Airlines, announced last year its intention to build a new facility to replace the ageing airport currently in use.
San Miguel Corp. revived its plan to build a new airport on an 800-hectare property that may cost up to US$10 billion, a move that will support the expansion of the conglomerate’s airline unit Philippine Airlines.
The proposed airport will have four runways that can accommodate simultaneous takeoff and landing. He did not disclose the location of the 800-hectare property.
