Oakwood Ortigas

Oakwood Premier Joy NostalgServiced apartment provider Oakwood is back in the Philippines, with the formal opening on September 9, 2009 of its 223-unit Oakwood Premier Joy~Nostalg Center Manila in Ortigas Center built by the leisure and resort property unit of the family of biscuit magnate Jacinto Ng.

Undeterred by the global economic crisis, Oakwood Premier Joy~Nostalg Center Manila, occupying 28 floors of the P3-billion 41-storey Joy~Nostalg Center Manila, actually had a soft launching on August 1, but the formal opening of the hotel is on September 9, 2009.
"We are back in the Philippines," said Oakwood Premier Joy~Nostalg Center Manila general manager Brian Connelly. "Ortigas is the best location for corporate business. It is located just across the Asian Development Bank and is near large shopping malls, business process outsourcing establishments and call centers."

Connelly said Oakwood Premier is looking at business travellers, tourists, and Filipinos as its market. "We are drawing people from as far as Makati and Quezon City," he said.

Radisson Blue Hotel Cebu

SM Investment Corp. has opened the 400-room Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City. SM, which invested PhP2.5 billion for the construction of the hotel, has tapped the Carlson Group to run the first Radisson Blu in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Philippine Hotel Federation

The Philippine Hotel Federation Inc. asked the Board of Investments (BOI) to relax the requirements to qualify for longer tax holidays under the proposed 2012 Investment Priorities Plan (IPP).  In a position paper, the group asked the BOI to cut by half the minimum investment requirement per room for hotel projects to enjoy pioneer status and qualify for six years of income tax holiday to attract investments in accommodation facilities.

GoHotel Palawan

Robinsons Land Corp. will open a shopping mall in Palawan province in November, which will bring to 31 its total number of malls in the country.  “Robinsons Land also plans to develop a residential subdivision and the Puerto Princesa branch of gohotels.ph,” the property firm said.

A new serviced hotel called Azalea Residences has opened in Baguio City.  Located at the Leonard Wood Loop, Barangay (village) M. Roxas, Azalea Residences offers tourists who normally take trips in groups, full amenities of a serviced apartment, complete with living, dining, and kitchen facilities in all its rooms.

Jose Rizal Heritage Trail

A heritage trail was launched at Rizal Park in time for the commemoration of the 150th death anniversary of national hero Jose Rizal.  Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim led the opening of the Lakbay Jose Rizal @ 150, a tourism heritage promotional campaign, and the unveiling of the Rizal Relief Map One-Stop Heritage Trail at the Rizal Park in Manila.
